WEEK 12 (APR 4TH - APR 10TH)

This week we’ll read the following letters from the Apostle Paul: 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Philippians.

1 Thessalonians is one of Paul’s earliest letters and was written to help the church endure suffering and look forward to Jesus’ coming again. It contains some of the most encouraging language for believers in Christ and the hope we have in His coming.

2 Thessalonians is Paul’s letter to follow up on his previous letter to Thessalonica and contains many of the same themes. Primarily, this letter addresses confusion about whether Jesus had already returned and identification of deceitful teaching.

1 Timothy is a letter Paul writes to his spiritual son Timothy, who pastors the church in Ephesus, in order to pass on some pastoral advice. This book shows how the Gospel changes lives from the inside out and also provides qualifications for church leaders.

2 Timothy is written by Paul while in a Roman prison waiting to be executed and is his last recorded letter. This letter encourages Timothy to stand firm in faith and reminds him that the last days will be difficult.

Philippians is an intimate letter from prison written by Paul. In spite of his persecution, he finds peace in the Lord and encourages others to rejoice in the Lord.
