WEEK 2 (JAN 24th - 30th)

This week we finish the book of Matthew, reading in the final week of Jesus’ earthly ministry and life. Matthew’s Gospel closes with the famous Great Commission (28.18-20). Here’s the two sentence summary for Matthew as a reminder:

Matthew is one of the four Gospels describing the life of Jesus Christ. Matthew was written to convince people familiar with the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies about the Messiah, God’s chosen Savior, and contains a large amount of Jesus’ teaching.

Galatians is next in the reading plan. Galatians is a letter written by Paul in strong language to encourage the church to continue to live in freedom and with the fruit of the Spirit, and not trust religious ceremonial practices that false teachers were advocating. He argues that the law of God functioned to show our enslavement to sin and reveal our need for the Savior.

Titus completes the week. Titus is a letter written to a pastor on the island of Crete. This letter contains themes about the qualifications for church leaders, warning against false teachers, and the importance of faith and practice.
