WEEK 4 (FEB 7TH - 13TH)

This week we read in the epistles (a.k.a. letters) of John and Peter. Though written for different reasons and audiences, the letters focus on how the church should endure hardship and express its faith.

1, 2, and 3 John are letters by the disciple “whom Jesus loved,” John, to a group of people he was pastoring. These books warn against those who are following a heresy that claimed that Jesus was not fully man and encourage believers to stay the course.

1 Peter is a letter of encouragement and teaching. Topics include assurance of eternal salvation, being a good example to the world in relationships and conduct, submission, serving, and suffering.

2 Peter is a letter of final words to believers before Peter dies. He names basic spiritual growth objectives, warns against deceptions, affirms the Lord’s faithfulness, and urges believers to be diligently faithful.

Below, you’ll find the reading plan for the week and the link to the Bible Project video summary, a resource we highly recommend.
