Doctrine Stated

There is one God in three Persons

  • Genesis 1:26-27
  • Psalm 110:1
  • Mark 1:9-11
  • Matthew 28:18-20

Way to be a heretic

  • Partialism - thirds make up the whole (3-leaf clover)
  • Modalism - different manifestations of God (water / ice / vapor)
  • Tritheism - three gods who get along (1+1+1=1?)
  • Subordinationism - Father is God, Son and Spirit are close but not really God (sun / light / heat)

So what?

  1. This is the God we know
    • Personal God
    • Equal God
    • Worthy God
    • Relational God
    • Mysterious God
  2. Model of Community for us (1 Cor 12:4-6)
  3. Model of Mission for us - "Sent With" is the main idea (John 15:26-27)
