John 1:5-14
God Incarnate
- Pure Spirit became human
- Became human to save humanity (Heb 2:17-18)
Perfect Son
- He tabernacled among us
- Sinless Son among the suffering and sinful
Historical Figure
- Before Christianity is personal, it is historical
- Allows us to anticipate how God will move based on how He has moved
Crucified and Risen
- Glory of Jesus was His crucifixion and resurrection (John 12:16, John 12:23)
- Only one who can carry this mission redemptively
Full of Grace and Truth
- Not one or the other - both
- You can discern which way you lean by listening to the part you feel the need to emphasize
John 1:15
Worthy
- Based on his personhood, not my opinion
- I will willingly surrender or finally submit
John 1:16-17
Giver of Grace
- Will I ever not need it? NEVER
- Why don't I just keep sinning? (Titus 2:11-14)
John 1:18
Revealer
- The God of the Universe wants to be known
- His greatest delight is in relationship with us (John 17:3)
