Joy: transformed sorrow

• There is a better story being told
• The world's rejoicing is never the end of the story - neither is our sorrow

Joy: future focused

• Temporary pain engulfed by joy
• What is coming in the future is far greater than what is experienced in the present

John 16:22

Joy: permanent

• Promise: I will see you again
• Result: your hearts will rejoice with irrevocable joy

John 16:23-28

Joy: relational

• Knowing and being known by the Father
  • Access in prayer (Eph 2:18)
  • Experience of His love (1 John 3:1)

John 16:29-33

Joy: present

• "We believe that Jesus knows what's best"
• "We know that life is hard"
• "We have peace because Jesus wins"
