Scripture: Job 1:2– 2:10, Job 22:2–11, Job 42:1–6
Job 1:2-19
Majesty
- Defined: "unrivaled in might"
- grandeur and glory + power and authority
- Majesty in the mundane (Job 1:2-5)
- Majesty amid tragedy (Job 1:13-19)
- Is God good? (Job 1:9-10)
- Is God powerful? (Job 1:11-12)
- Majesty over spiritual forces (Job 2:3-6)
Trust His Sufficiency
- In tragedy (Job 1:20-22)
- In abandonment (Job 2:9-10)
- In accusation (Job 22:1-11)
- In silence
Job ultimately reorients around an even greater encounter of majesty (Job 42:1-6)
Final Question
- Can God really be all that majestic if He lets an innocent man suffer?
- There is only ONE innocent sufferer
- He restores not with what was but something more (the foretaste of resurrection)
