- What happened? Distance was destroyed

- Creation was unable to deal with the spiritual realities unfolding
- Death was turned upside down (temporary, but certain)

Disbelief (v. 53-54)
- Because of their sin (criminals)
- Because of their duty (Romans)
- Because of their distance (crowd)
He was willing to be forsaken so that we wouldn't have to be.
