Biblical Peace is wholeness of life under the Spirit's leadership.
- Its key characteristics are safety and value
Peace of Mind
Phil 4:6-7
- Carry anxiety to our detriment
- The safety and value we desire are not self-produced
- Cast anxiety on God
- Tell God the truth (1 Pet 5:7)
- The Spirit reminds us He is the God who cares for us
Peace in Circumstances
John 16:33
- Situations outside our control
- Situations under our control that are neither easy nor predictable
- Fixate on Him, not on the problem (Isa 26:3)
2 Tim 4:6-18
Peace in Relationships
Rom 12:18
- Are you promoting safety and value to those around you?
- The Spirit helps us see them for who they are
- The Spirit helps us keep working at it (Rom 14:19, Eph 4:3)
- You owe the Kingdom your best effort
- Peacemaking and peacekeeping are not the same
- The goal is not to win but to bring to the surface the Spirit-driven stuff so He can do His work
- Peacemaking includes perspective
- Pursuing peace means you can remain right and still pursue relationship
- Pursuing peace requires relational wisdom (Prov 26:4-5)
