"No one is good but God alone"

Mark 10:17-22

• Expertise
  • Not just God, He's smart
  • Our practice: awe
• Moral Virtue
  • Jesus possessed compassion
  • Jesus presented clarity
  • Our practice: obedience
• Benevolence
  • He is still good when difficulties arise
  • He is bountifully good to His followers
  • Our practice: gratitude
• "But He doesn't feel good right now..."
  • Does how you feel about God change His character?
  • Can you imagine a scenario in which you allow difficulties to happen to your kids?
  • Is God a simple Being or a complex Being?

God's goodness is expressed in...

• Creation (Gen 1)
  • Your body is God's gift to you and the world
  • The rest of creation for our joy (1 Tim 6:17-19)
• Word (Rom 7:12)
  • He has the best possible answers to the most important questions
  • It is all for our good and He communicates in ways we understand
• Works (Psa 119:6)
  • He orchestrates events to reflect His character and accomplish His intended purpose
  • He is good to all (Psa 145:9)
• Redemption (Tit 3:4)
  • The wisdom of God did not dismiss the sin of humanity but redeemed us by the sacrifice of His Son
• Good Works (Matt 5:16)
  • God is working to renew creation according to His redemptive purposes and invites us to join Him

We get a sweeter sense of His goodness when we call on Him when tested.

We get a stronger sense of His goodness when we participate with Him in ministry. (Eph 2:10)
