Evil and God's Plan to Destroy Evil
November 2, 2025 Preacher: Trent Henderson Series: Malachi
Scripture: Malachi 2:17– 3:4
Wearing God Out
Mal 2:17
- Condemnation 1: speaking without doing
- Condemnation 2: inversion of good and evil
- We "do justice" when we honor the image of God in people and desire God's best for them
- Immorality - it's not right to do things that are not right
- Greed - it's not right to love stuff more than people
- Lying - it's not right to say what we know is not true
- Condemnation 3: accusing God of injustice via absence
- "We tried to live Your way and it didn't help us or bless us"
God's Four-Step Plan to Deal with Evil
Mal 3:1-4
- Send a messenger
- Show up Himself
- Purify His people - through consuming and cleansing
- Ready them to live in God's presence
In Jesus the Messiah, He puts our sin on Himself (v. 1) and goes through the fire and takes the beating (v. 2-3).
Because of Jesus, God can destroy evil without destroying us.
