We have confidence in prayer

1 John 5:14-15

• We can know His will
• We are heard by Him
• We can expect answers

We have protection from the evil of sin

1 John 5:16-18

• Prayers for deliverance are good prayers to pray
  • Question 1: doesn't all sin lead to death?
    • All sin deserves death
    • There may be instances when He will save you from greater destruction and embarrassment
  • Question 2: why does he say not to pray for someone?
    • He is not saying don't pray but is not commanding us to pray
• Expect evil and hardship in the world
• The authority of Jesus is unmatched and His reign is unchallenged

We have understanding to know Him

1 John 5:20-21

• Grants us a mind with capacity as well as inclination to understand
• Grants us a new relationship, identity, and destiny
• So don't settle!
