Situation

Partiality - playing favorites, preferential treatment, "lift the face of ..."

• Partiality is judgment based on faulty premises
• Partiality hinders us from seeing what is true about someone

James 2:9-11

Diagnosis

Faith falters in partiality

• I do not recognize the image of God in the other person
• I do not recognize their need for God and His salvation
• I do not recognize what is revealed about my own heart

We sin in partiality

• Two ways to sin: capitulate or callousness

Breaking some of the law is being guilty of all of it

James 2:12-13

Remedy

Live in the law of liberty

• Remember you will be judged - accountability is a powerful motivator
• Better than bondage
• Doorways of ministry will open
• Mercy triumphs (sees them genuinely and deals with them accordingly)
